KILLING ANIMALS- Is it Justifiable?

During my travel I encountered with many interesting and peculiar things about people and their deeds in different country. Either it’s my astigmatism or their speciesism, which is making me mercurial on one of not so human behavior on my perspective “Animal Killings”. The thing is since I left Libreville capital of Gabon killing of innocent animal by human is bugging me; not only in Gabon but along the way after Gabon such practices has been frequently occurring on my sight.

Killing animals for positive cause, medicinal purposes could be prominent but more than that in present context they are being killed for public recreational use as in food, sport, clothing etc. Thinking, whether the killing of animals can be justified or not; uncountable people think that animals should be protected, but however, some people also feel that killing of animals should be allowed when they are over population, when animals became danger to humans, and when it is economically beneficial.

Others also justify that killing animals is not in-human, because of its necessity. If this was indeed the case, we could say that killing animals is a kind of self-defence, we would die if we would not kill them. However, for almost all people this isn’t true. Humans can survive on a well planned plant-based diet and when it comes to clothing, we have plenty more sustainable options than leather.

As I witnessed during my travel many animals were killed because they are considered pests. Beavers, bats, geese, mice, raccoons, snakes, chipmunks, and squirrels are among those animals who most often suffer horrific deaths because people consider them a nuisance, but the list also includes bears, coyotes, ducks, foxes, and even wolves.
Agreeing eating wild animal’s meat also seems that we have accepted in-human activities; it means that we are shutting our eyes to damaging nature.
As far as we know, many types of animals went extinct because of human. So protecting animals has become our responsibility to conserve a plenty of the nature for the future, for our new generations. We should remember that the natural resources are limited and any animals have existed their own true reasons.

We must always remember-
“One day the absurdity of the almost universal human belief in the slavery of other animals will be palpable. We shall then have discovered our souls and become worthier of sharing this planet with them.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
