Meeting Mayor of ADDIS ABABA

I had the wonderful opportunity of sitting down with the mayor of Addis Ababa, Kuma Demeksa Tokon on the 25th of October. We had a nice little chat about saving our environment and his involvement in international organisations undertaking environmental issues.

One of the things I wanted to talk to him during this dialogue was encouraging more of his city’s people into cycling. He said that as much as he would love to change that, the reason why there are not as many cyclists in this city than there are in other parts of the country is mainly because Addis Ababa sits on a hilly area which is about 230 metres up, making cycling a lot more difficult.

The mayor showed a lot of genuine interest in protecting our environment in every way he can. In the presence of media personnel, this short 10 minutes meeting was very victorious. I would like to thank everybody who made this meeting a success and I would like to give my special thanks to the mayor for taking some time off his busy schedule for my favour.meeting-mayor1
